On February 19th, the Colombian Navy detected a suspicious vessel in the department of Valle del Cauca. The Coast Guard deployed a unit to investigate and conducted a vessel board, search and seizure (VBSS) operation.
During the course of this, they located 59 packages inside the boat. Four individuals were detained, and they and the boat were taken to Buenaventura Coast Guard Station. The consignment was analysed, and it was determined that they contained 1,684kg of marijuana valued at an estimated $11 million dollars. The suspects were handed over to the authorities to be prosecuted for crimes of trafficking, manufacturing and possessing illegal narcotics.
